The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Traveling

These are modern times we live in; written words are delivered in seconds rather than weeks or months and camel travel has been substituted with spacious and oh so comfortable means of travel. With travel made easy, it has become a major part of our lives, and anything that major deserves a few boosting tips.

Don’t be afraid to travel alone - It’s a great chance to truly see and immerse in a new culture, meet people from all walks of life and if you’re lucky enough, you may even find yourself.

Educate yourself – It’s important to read up on the country you’re visiting but remember, no amount of books can give you an insider perspective like that offered by the locals. So put your best smile on and let the inhabitants teach you a thing or two.

Keep an open mind - This cannot be stressed enough. Not everyone you meet shares the views and beliefs you solemnly take as concrete truths. Each culture, and each person within it, has theirown way of living that should be respected. By crossing international borders you are subconsciously agreeing to live and let live.

Step outside your comfort zone – The Golden rule of not only traveling but also life in general. Believe it or not, great things do come to those who take a chance. Whether it’s visiting the perilous jungles of Peru or taking a bite of that stir-fried tarantula (ok you don’t need to go that far). Point is, do at least one thing on your travels that you wouldn’t normally do and allow yourself to be amazed.
