Initiated during the Middle Kingdom under Senusret I, construction of this temple continued well into the Ptolemaic era, a beauty dedicated to the cult of the Theban triad: the gods Amon, his consort Mut, and their son Khunso. You will savor a delicious lunch, after which you will take an excursion to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the famous Valley of the Kings-a large burial area for New Kingdom pharaohs, including the great Ramses II and the young King Tutankhamun tombs, both quite well preserved. You shall then proceed to visit the tomb of King Tutankhamun, also known as the Boy King (visit is optional but extra fees are directly paid.
Next will be the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which is more popularly referred to as "the Holy of Holies." This great architectural structure comprises three levels connected with ramps and is decorated with scenes showing the divine birth of this queen and her expedition to Punt Land. The temple is primarily devoted to the adoration of the supreme god Amon-Ra.
Photo stops will be made at the Colossi of Memnon, two towering figures of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once stood guard at the entrance of his funerary temple. You'll hear interesting stories and legends that surrounded these imposing statues and examine the stone for Roman graffiti left on the stone. Lastly, a visit to an alabaster factory may be made, where one can purchase skillfully hand-cut items as mementos, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Aswan or even to Luxor airport for departure at about 5:00 PM, depending on your request.
