Itinerary
Rotana Travel will have a representative at your hotel in Cairo to drive you to all the famous sightseeing places of El Fayoum. The distance from Cairo to Fayoum is almost 95 kilometers. Cairo excursions will start in Wadi El Ryan, declared so as a protected area in 1989. Now we will start our tour of the Wadi Hitan Protected Area (Valley of the Whales), about 90 km away from Fayoum. Wadi Hitan, or Valley of the Whales, is located in the Protected Area of Wadi El Rayan and has been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for the 40 million-year-old whale skeletons found there. Visit Mudawara Mountain, then go into Wadi Al Ryan Water Falls on the way to Wadi El Rayan Water Falls. Wadi El Rayan is a natural depression in the western desert, having two lakes, which are connected by Egypt's only waterfalls, unleashed in 1970 by the overflow of drainage water from the farmlands of Fayoum. At a good standard restaurant, a late lunch will be served. After that, return to Cairo.
