Itinerary
Upon you arrive at Luxor airport/Luxor train station, you will meet and be assisted by your tour manager from Luxor and Aswan Tours, and then be accompanied by your Egyptologist tour guide from Rotana Egypt for a tour in Esna. Once a humming merchant town, Esna is famous for a tiny ancient temple, that of Khnum, situated 9 meters below street level. Your journey will begin with a short walk to the temple and a stroll through the bustling streets replete with beautiful textiles and other kinds of exotic merchandise.
Overnight in Esna on your Nile boat.
Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner
During our slumber, we find ourselves sailing to El Kab, an east bank of the Nile, in which the spot was the capital of Upper Egypt and now houses a temple dedicated to Nekhbet and a row of fascinatingly decorated tombs carved. You could then walk through a very beautiful little fishing village on your way to the Necropolis after docking. The afternoon sees the boat arrive in Edfu, which happens to be home to the Greco-Roman temple built for the deity Horus. This is among the best preserved of all Egyptian temples. Horse and carriage will take you to the temple through the busy city streets. After returning to the boat, you will set sail for a beautiful island.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
This day's program is a river-day program: an optional morning walk and breakfast, then you'll board an afternoon sail and disembark to an island for a little stroll or swimming in the Nile. Maybe at dusk, there can be a walk into the desert along a valley strewn with boulders covered in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and stone-age inscriptions. These pictures are the beginning of the shortest trail through the desert to Libya (28 days in ancient times). At night, the boat will tie up the foot of floodlit temple of Gebel Silsileh.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Narrowing between two mountains, as the Nile flows, it is at its narrowest here. Most often, you will be the only tourists at this remarkable place because big cruisers on the Nile are not allowed to moor here. After a visit to the small temple of Horemheb and a walk through the sandstone quarries, where ancient Egyptians used to cut stone for many of their most famous temples, you will visit a delightful café for tea and a shisha. Afterward, you will sail to a wonderful bank on the river, where you will stop for lunch and swim.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
The morning excursion will bring you to the Kom Ombo town and temple after spending a night on the water and under the stars. The temple was constructed in the Ptolemaic period upon the site of an older temple, with one of the most beautiful positions on a bend on the river. The temple is dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile-headed god. From the temple, you will continue to the new Crocodile Museum, filled with many mummified crocodiles; all this is evidence of how important this creature had once been to this area in ancient times.
